Classroom Jobs

Happy Sunday to all! I am so happy one of my freebies was posted on the TPT newsletter. It's the little things that make my day! Haha!

Moving on to today's topic: classroom jobs. How do you organize your classroom jobs? I have tried different methods over the years, but I am happiest with what I am using now. Take a look.

I switch the jobs every week by moving the cards one to the right or down. This way the students will have the opportunity to perform every job. I used to let the students choose their job each week, but that didn't work out so well for me.

I have 16 jobs and 19 students, so the students who do not have a job for the week are on "vacation." Since there are 3 students on vacation at a time, the students will end up being on vacation for 3 weeks.

The kiddos always give me ideas for new class jobs so this chart changes from year to year. Right now the kids are asking for a "lights monitor" and a "math cubes passer." Still debating those...

Most of these jobs are obvious, but here's a description of a couple:

Caboose: Stays at the end of our line and is responsible for turning off the lights and shutting the door to our classroom whenever we leave.

Teacher's Assistant: This job really just takes notes wherever they need to go.

Enjoy your weekend!

  1. I used to have something like that! Except I contained all of my pockets onto a posterboard. Until my math board took over an entire section of my white board and I quickly ran out of space!! lol...I will have to do a post tomorrow about it :) I send you the link when I do!
